Ground Indonesian Cinnamon

From the depths of Asia, this once precious and hard-to-find spice conquered the world and its fame spread to the ends of the earth. Indonesian cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia) is grown mainly in Sumatra, Indonesia and stands out from other cinnamon varieties, such as Ceylon cinnamon as its color is darker brown and its taste leaves a stronger sweetness.

According to research, it has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and heating properties and is rich in antioxidants that are associated with many health benefits such as lowering cholesterol, boosting metabolism and reducing body weight.

Indonesian cinnamon goes well with a variety of recipes, from beverages and pastries to meats and pies. Grated, it can be used in traditional sweets, cookies, cakes and sweet breads, while in while in savory dishes it’s used mostly in tomato-based sauces or stews.
